Andressa Andrade Alves da Silva

Professor

Andressa Andrade Alves da Silva holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Universidade Federal Fluminense (2009), a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the same institution (2012), and a PhD in Chemistry from the Military Institute of Engineering (2016). She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Materials and Environment Laboratory (LEMMA), where she developed the following research projects: (i) development of catalysts for hydrogen generation from dry reforming of biogas (2017-2021); (ii) application of artificial intelligence in oil and gas processes, in partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) (2021-2023); and (iii) development of bifunctional catalysts for the generation of dimethyl ether (DME) from the direct hydrogenation of CO2; (2023-2024). She is currently a professor in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF). She has experience in chemical engineering, with an emphasis on catalytic processes, working mainly on the following topics: (i) synthesis and characterization of catalysts and photocatalysts; (ii) production of hydrogen from ethanol and biogas; (iii) conversion of CO2 into dimethyl ether; (iv) energy generation through SOFC fuel cells; and (v) photocatalysis applied to the degradation of pollutants.
